A Brief History Of Chinese Cuisine
Chinese cooking is not merely a skill but an art. The origins of Chinese cuisine can be traced back to the great classical age of China, the Chou Dynasty of 1122-249 BC The flavors, colors, textures, and even the bit-size cuts of the dish elements are part of an art form developed upon the foundations of Confucian and Taoist influences. The Confucian contribution to Chinese cooking rests primarily upon the establishment of standard table etiquette as well as the Confucian concern with how various elements could be combined to achieve the highest levels of color, flavor, texture, and taste. Taoists were concerned with the life-giving benefits of certain foods and condiments. Thus Chinese cuisine became and remains today one of the healthiest in the world.
